Love always prevails….I want you to remember that as you look through these images from this small intimate wedding at the stunning Villa Aouska in Port Vila, Vanuatu.
Sure over the years I have seen a lot of things go wrong on wedding days, however this was just beyond belief. On the months leading up to the wedding Cyclone Pam ripped through Port Vila causing total devastation. This included Bryn and Nicola’s wedding venue.
If you where to describe a destination wedding in Vanuatu with one word, it would most likely be ‘hot’. Vanuatu had not seen weather like this for a long time, it was unusual. From the day I arrived to my little beach side shack accomodation it rained for 2 days straight. There was tension in the air as the entire wedding was to be held outside on the Villa’s lawn.
On the night before the wedding Bryn anxiously awaited the arrival of his family members which essentially made up half the amount of guests. As time went on there was a phone call breaking the news that the plane was unable to land in Vanuatu due to the weather. They where taken to Fiji, then to Brisbane, where they where to attempt to fly back the following day. Once there was confirmation the would not land until later that afternoon (after the ceremony time) We sat down and discussed our options one of which was to push the wedding back to the following day.
Bryn and Nicola ended up agreeing to doing a First look and their portraits prior to the guests arriving. This allowed sufficient time to have a late ceremony.
The rain held off.
The guests arrived.
An emotional ceremony was had.
Just remeber when something doesn’t go to plan, don’t get caught up on it. Strip it back and remeber why you are there.
Love always prevails…
